A Teacher's Guide -- Folic Acid Now

“Babies and Birth Defects: A Mystery in Texas” is a free educational module designed to teach middle school and high school students about epidemiology, neural tube birth defects, and folic acid. This teachers’ curriculum has been designed to assist people to train others about the need to use folic acid in the prevention of neural tube birth defects. It consists of six lessons. These lessons are capable of being downloaded and printed to create overhead transparencies for a class and includes materials which go beyond the subject of folic acid. Links to other birth defect-related websites are available. In addition, a summary quiz is included, as well as a list of various references which have been selected to assist potential instructors in their challenge to make others more aware of the folic acid potential for prevention of neural tube disorders and other birth defects.
