Teen Girls, Older Men
When teen-age girls become sexually involved with older partners, they are more
likely to become pregnant, according to a study published recently in Family Planning
Perspectives.
When the age separation of the male is at least six years older, the 15 to 17 year old female is almost three times as likely to be one of those who later
became counted as a teen pregnancy, these researchers said.
On the positive side, the study did report that most sexually active teen-age females are having sex with males close to their own age. The numbers of
women having sex with older men are relatively low, as only about 7% of sexually active females ages 15 to 17 reported having
partners who were at least six years older than they were.
Women of all ages tend to have older sexual partners, according to the study results. This is especially noticeable as the females get older.
